The Club Super Sprint is open to all 2014 Longford Triathlon Club members for an entry fee of €5.

In advance of the event, all participants will be assigned in swim lanes with participants of similar ability. Each swimmer in a lane will be given a different color swim hat to assist marshals in counting competitor's lengths complete. Each competitor is given the opportunity to do a 500 meter or 20 minutes swimming, which ever they complete first. Swimmers in each lane will be started at 5 second intervals. If a competitor need to pass another swimmer in their lane, they should tap them on the foot and only pass at turn around at the Marshall's end of the pool. On completion of the swim competitors exit the water and moved to the bike transition area. This will be positioned outside the Scouts Den. On approaching bikes, triathlon rules state that you must fit and clip your helmet before unracking your bike. On unracking your bike from the bike rack, competitors then proceed to the transition bike exit which will be located to the south of transition. Competitors can only mount their bike after crossing the mount dismount line. There will be a bike neutral zone in operation in the Mall park where you cannot pass other competitors until you cross the Camlin Bridge. Details of the bike route are on this enclosed link. On the bike route drafting is not allowed (drafting is the act of riding behind another cyclist to use less energy to maintain the same speed). On return to the mall from the bike stage once again it is a neutral zone once you cross the Camlin Bridge until the dismount line at transition. On approach to transition competitors must dismount their bike before crossing the mount dismount line. On entry to transition, triathlon rules state that you should rack your bike before unclipping your helmet. Competitors then proceed to the transition exit and run start which is to the north of transition. Details of the run route are on this link. On completion of the Super Sprint competitors are asked not to re enter transition until all competitors have completed the event.

This Supersprint is a great training event and a great introduction for new club members to the sport in controlled race conditions. We hope to see big numbers for the 2014 race.
