Longford Tri Club Training Schedule

Winter Plan - November to March approximately.

Summer Plan - April to October approximately.

Longford Triathlon Club welcomes new members and below is a list of convent times to train with the club. There is an activity each day for the convenience of members. New members should note that you do not have to train every day to be a member of Longford Tri Club, you can choose the times that suit you.

MONDAY

Winter - Pool Swim Mall 9pm to 10pm

TUESDAY

 Run from Mall  7pm to 8.30pm

Run sessions will be with Longford AC. Tuesday sessions will be a choice between speed interval & hills sessions with two groups, one for fast runners and one for intermediate runners. Check club forum for each week’s training session updates. There will also be an option for steady run sessions of 4-8 miles. All Tri club members taking part in these sessions must become members of Longford AC.

Strength & conditioning 9pm to 10pm

Winter - Strength & conditioning at Functional Training, Athlone Rd.

WEDNESDAY

Winter - Cycle turbo at Nolan’s Garage (Newtown) time: 8.15pm - 9.30pm

Summer - A B & C group cycles depart at the following times and you can use this link to see which group you are in.

C group depart at 6:45pm at average speed of 26kph.

B group depart at set time later at average speed of 31kph.

A group depart at set time later at average speed of 34kph.

THURSDAY

Run from Mall - 7pm to 8pm

Run sessions will be with Longford AC, Thursday session will be steady run 4-8 miles. All Tri club members taking part in these sessions need to become members of Longford AC

Summer - Open Water swimming 7.30pm Tarmonbarry (Commencing 15th May 14) There will be swim buoys at 250m and 500m and kayak cover.
Please arrive early to be in the water for 7:30pm SHARP.

Winter - Strength & conditioning 9-10pm at Functional Training, Athlone Rd.

FRIDAY

Winter - Pool swim at mall  9pm to 10pm

SATURDAY

Group cycle departing Mall  at 8.30am

GROUP 1 - is a 50-70km distance at an average speed of 27 - 28kph.

GROUP 2 - is a 40km distance at avg speed of 25kph. Group 2 will have a rostered captain each saturday to help new members get familiar with cycling in a group and with performing the up and over cycle technique. This group is suitable for newcomers to cycling / triathlon training.                            “Winter miles is summer speed”

Summer - Open water swim with Lanesborough Tri Club, sign on at 5:45pm (Starting 10th May). Swim is from Roscommon side of bridge. All Longford Tri members must have there TI card with them and there is a €2 cover charge to help with expensed of boat cover. Big thank you to Lanesborough Tri Club for accommodating Longford Tri members.

Sunday

Winter - Club member’s duathlon series starts 10am (see duathlon page link)
