Training Plan, 2018/2019

The Longford Tri training for the upcoming season, 2018/19. New members are encouraged to come along and see whats its all about. Winter training is a great opportunity to lay the foundations for an enjoyable triathlon season in the coming year.

Swimming:

Our swimming sessions are held in the Longford Sports and Leisure Centre "The Mall". Starting November 2018. We will swim Monday evenings between 8-9pm. The cost per block of 6 night of coached swimming is €45 for members and €50 for non members.

If spaces are limited, club members are given first refusal.

Turbo Training:

The turbo sessions are held in the Clonguish GAA complex in Newtownforbes each Wednesday evening. Setup is 7:15 - 7:30pm with turbo starting at 7.30pm sharp. Turbo is €6 per night or you can pay at the start of the seven week block at a reduced rate of €35.

Weekend Cycle:

Our club cycle takes place each weekend on Saturday morning at 9am and Sunday mornings at 10am. Members meet at Halfords in the N4 Axis Centre and these cycles are joint cycles with Longford Cycling and Racing club. For insurance reasons you need to be a current club member of one of these clubs. For the safety of all it is a requirement that all participants must have front and back lights, mudguards and bright high-vis clothing.

Wednesday Cycle:

Turbo finishes in early spring 2019 and structured Club road cycles then begin. Departing from Longford Sports and Leisure centre - "The Mall" at 6:45pm

Running:

The club will have coached running sessions on the Royal Canal beside Longford Slashers GAA grounds. This training will be with trainers Brendan & Madeline Doyle on Tuesdays 8-9pm at a cost of €5 per sessionpaid directly to the trainers. Members are also welcome to join Brendan Doyle running session on Saturday mornings, departing Halford's at 7:30 / 8am (depending on planned weekend run). These runs are timed to allow participants be back to join the Saturday bike session departing at 9am.
