Training Plan, 2022

New members are encouraged to come along and see what its all about. Winter training is a great opportunity to lay the foundations for an enjoyable triathlon season in the coming year. New members are allowed to join three training sessions before joining to see if triathlon is really for them.

2022 Triathlon Ireland membership and Longford Tri membership is available on the link below. Please note, for the 2022 season Longford Tri element of the membership is zero for the 2022 season in light of current circumstances.

Swimming:

Our swimming sessions are held in the Longford Sports and Leisure Centre "The Mall". and start in November each year. Swimming is Monday evenings 9-10pm in blocks of 6 weeks. The current cost per block of 6 night of coached swimming is €40 (subsidized) which is paid on the first night of the block.

Open water swimming starts May / June and is in Tarmonbarry.

Turbo Training:

Turbo sessions are Wednesday evening with setup at 6:45 - 7:00pm with turbo starting at 7.00pm sharp. Turbo is €3 per night with full details available on the membership what's app.

Weekend Cycle:

Club weekend cycles run Saturday morning from early spring.

Wednesday Cycle:

Turbo finishes in early spring and structured Club road cycles then begin. Departing from Longford Sports and Leisure centre - "The Mall" at 6:45pm. Full details on the club What's app

Running:

The club have coached running sessions. Their are two options Brendan & Madeline Doyle and Longford AC. Both are on Tuesdays 7 - 8pm.

Members are also welcome to join Brendan Doyle Running session on Saturday mornings, departing various locations as advised by club What's app. Typically departing 7:30 / 8am (depending on planned weekend run). These runs are timed to allow participants be back to join the Saturday bike session departing at 9am starting early spring. Contact Brendan on 087 224 1352 for more information on runs.
